The Houston H. Harte Center houses the ̽»¨Ô¼ÅÚ School of Business.

The Department of Business Administration supports the mission of the College by providing an educational experience that is characterized by personal attention and guidance to students; a commitment to continuous curriculum development; utilization of technology to enhance instructional delivery; and emphasis on extracurricular activities that promote student leadership and an understanding of contemporary business practices. It is the primary goal of this unit to provide a high quality education for the development of future business leaders who are uniquely qualified to manage in a technologically advanced global marketplace.

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the School of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Computational & Information Sciences (SBECIS) is to prepare students of diverse levels of academic preparation for places of leadership and service in society by providing a high quality, in-depth, and stimulating education in business administration. The school supports the mission of ̽»¨Ô¼ÅÚ by providing an educational experience that is characterized by personal attention and guidance to students, a commitment to continuous curriculum development, utilization of technology to enhance instructional delivery with emphasis on extracurricular activities that promote student leadership and understanding of contemporary business practices in a global society.

The SBECIS prepares students for places of leadership and service in society by providing a quality, in-depth, and stimulating education in business, computation, and technology. The school’s primary goal is to provide a high-quality education and practical experience for the development of future business influencers and leaders who are uniquely qualified to manage in a technologically advanced global marketplace. The SBECIS is composed of the following departments: Business Administration and Computational and Information Sciences.

Highlights and Achievements

Demarco Truss `20

Demarco is a 2020 graduate from Talladega. He is currently a Juvenile Detention Officer at Coosa Valley Youth Services, located in Anniston, where he is shifting minds of youth; one child at a time. We are so proud of his work and his dedication to working with the youth!

Chris Ruffin `16

James A. Muhammad is the President and CEO of Lakeshore PBS. While at ̽»¨Ô¼ÅÚ, Muhammad majored in communications, was a part of the school’s choir, and interned at the Center for Public Broadcasting at the University of Alabama during his junior year at ̽»¨Ô¼ÅÚ.

Dr. Chante Ruffin '01

Dr. Chante Ruffin is a 2001 graduate who received her Bachelors in Pre-Medicine. She is the founder of Heritage Pediatrics in Alexander City and continues to make a significant impact in her community. Our alumni leave prepared to do big things in their careers and lives. MEET THE DEAN

It is my great honor to be the new Dean of the School of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Computational & Information Sciences at ̽»¨Ô¼ÅÚ. I am committed to continuing the ̽»¨Ô¼ÅÚ legacy of foster-ing academic excellence and providing high quality education for diverse populations. ̽»¨Ô¼ÅÚ has educated and graduated students from diverse educational backgrounds and served the community for over 140 years and I am humbled to work alongside the current faculty, staff, and administrators to continue this proud tradition by preparing and supporting some of the best business minds in the world.

This includes shepherding a new comprehensive vision that provides ̽»¨Ô¼ÅÚ’s talented students, facul-ty and staff with the resources necessary to excel in business as dedicated civic leaders equipped to compete in today’s global landscape.

As Dean, my vision and strategy to achieve the goals & objectives for the School of Business and ulti-mately ̽»¨Ô¼ÅÚ will focus on these areas: Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Technology, Ac-creditation, Fundraising, Globalization, and Civic Engagement and Responsibility. Achieving these goals would prepare our proud ̽»¨Ô¼ÅÚites for the 21st Century workforce.Ìý
