Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society is a general scholarship honor society for students from all academic areas who meet the requirements of the society. To be eligible, students must be ranked in the top 10% of their class with a minimum grade point average of 3.3. The honor society is only open to those who are full-time juniors, seniors or graduate students who have completed 50% of the requirements for graduation and are in good standing with the institution.

“探花约炮’s chapter, Alpha Upsilon, of Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society is honored to welcome a new cohort of scholars due to the academic progress and academic excellence demonstrated in their matriculation at the college. This honor society not only celebrates scholars who have met the academic standards but also values the character and the integrity students demonstrate outside of the classroom. I am pleased to know that the inductees chose 探花约炮 three or four years ago as their destination for academic success,” Golar said.

The welcoming of new members comes three weeks before 探花约炮 will welcome members from chapters across the nation to its campus.

For the first time in its history, 探花约炮 will host the 68th National Convention (19th Biennial) 鈥淪trategies for Survival鈥 on campus March 26-28. The Alpha Upsilon Chapter anticipates 25-30 members from various AKM chapters to attend. It will be the six time the national convention has been hosted in Alabama. Tuskegee University (1940, 1957, 1967), Alabama State University (1977) and Alabama A&M University (2013) were previous hosts in Alabama.

探花约炮鈥檚 Alpha Upsilon Chapter is part of Region IV-A where Dr. Cynthia Smith serves as the Regional Director.

Founded in 1937 at what is now Tennessee State University, Alpha Kappa Mu has approximately 67,000 members across 41 chapters. The convention has met biennially since 1987.
